We’re looking for a temp barista to support The Mills Fabrica, covering annual leave for three weeks in April (1-21 April). The hours required are 35 hours each week, working Monday to Friday alongside our part-time barista. They will work in our newly opened coffee shop located in our innovation gallery and concept store, Fabrica X, and will report to the Fabrica X Manager. Beyond this three-week period, additional ad-hoc work may be available based on staffing needs.

Coffee Shop Opening Hours: 8am - 4pm, Monday - Thursday; 8am - 3pm Friday

Hours: 35 hours/week

Location: 36-40 York Way, Kings Cross, N1 9AB

Dates: 1st April – 21st April 2025

We want our baristas to strive to:

  • Consistently deliver coffee to a high standard
  • Provide exceptional customer service and build relationships with our customers, co-working members and local community.
  • Act as a spokesperson for Fabrica X.
  • Work sustainably, minimise waste where possible and consider the environmental impact of the coffee shop.
  • Be open to bring new ideas to further integrate sustainability and innovation into the coffee shop’s practices, ingredients and retail items.

Core duties & responsibilities:

  • Assist with opening and closing procedures.
  • Help maintain stock levels and ensure all stocks are rotated.
  • Ensure the bar and retail items are fully stocked at the start and end of their shift.
  • Throughout their shift, maintain a clean and tidy coffee shop.
  • To assist colleagues in the day to day running of the coffee shop.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service, creating a welcoming environment for all customers.
  • Represent Fabrica X to all guests with a clear understanding of the business.
  • Ensure fast, efficient service while maintaining high standards.
  • Dial in shots, record the weight, volume & extraction times of shots, and the batch of coffee being used. This should be done at the start of the shift and throughout the day when possible.
  • Ensure coffee quality and consistency is maintained throughout the day.
  • To undertake any other duties assigned by the Fabrica X Manager.

Ideal candidate:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a barista.
  • Confident dialling in the coffee machine and creating coffee (espresso and batch brew) recipes.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Positive working attitude.
  • A passion for coffee and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with the coffee machine and grinders (preferred)
  • Ability to maintain equipment (preferred)
